On Sunday, September 29th, 2024, Spotify experienced a temporary outage that left about 40,000 users without access to their favorite music and podcasts, according to Downdetector.
The outage started in the morning around 9:00 AM GMT, affecting North America, Europe, and some parts of Asia. Although this outage affected the Spotify app and web player, users could still play songs that had already been downloaded for some time.
Spotify acknowledged this issue and informed users that they were working to resolve it. Later in the afternoon, the platform said on X(formerly known as Twitter), “Everything is back up and running! Sorry for the trouble, and thanks for your patience. Keep listening to your favourite tunes.”
Many users temporarily switched to alternative music streaming platforms such as Apple Music and YouTube Music while for artists, there were minor dips in streaming numbers, although any longer disruption could have caused financial implications.
For now, the platform seems to be working fine, though users should keep an eye on any further updates.
