according to NASA. The exact timing will vary depending on the viewer’s location, but the peak will be visible in the late afternoon to early evening.
This phenomenon generally happens when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun. However, since the sun is too far from the Earth to completely cover the sun, it leaves a bright ring of sunlight visible around the moon’s edges to form this “ring of fire” solar eclipse that will be visible.
The solar eclipse will be visible in parts of Eastern Island, parts of Argentina and Chile. The best viewing areas in the United States will be in states such as Oregon, Nevada, Texas and Utah. Mexico and parts of Brazil, New Zealand, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Hawaii will have a partial eclipse. However, many other parts of the Americas will still be able to witness a partial eclipse.
For those who will view the eclipse, remember to always wear the proper solar viewing glasses to protect your eyes from any harmful UV rays. If you do not have those, you can also use solar filters designed for cameras or binoculars to capture the images safely.
For those who cannot view it in person, many online platforms and observatories will provide live streams of the eclipse.
The partial eclipse will begin at 15:42 UTC, the annular eclipse will start at around 16:50 UTC, the maximum point will occur at 18:45 UTC, and the whole eclipse will end around 21:47 UTC.
