Lord Tyland Lannister travels to Essos to negotiate with the Triarchy so he can use their naval fleet to break the blockade around King’s landing. This way, the Greens could move freely and launch counterattacks. He presents a solid argument, offering them the Stepstones in exchange. However, Sharako Lohar, the Triarchy’s admiral is not impressed with him and challenges him to prove his worth. She underestimates and challenges him to a wrestling contest, but later on becomes impressed with his skills and she agrees to sail to King’s Landing.
Meanwhile, at King’s Landing, Larys Strong advises Aegon II to go to Braavos until after the war. He suggests when all is burnt and destroyed, Aegon can return and bring peace to the city and the people will see him as a peacemaker. Whether Aegon decides to follow this plan, we won’t know until the end of the episode where he makes his decision.
Jacaerys is still not taken by the idea of the new riders and he makes his opinions known.
Aemond is anxious, which makes him act rashly; you see he burnt Sharp Point, the seat of House Bar Emmon, which supports Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne which makes us know he might be digging himself into a pit.
Burn it all! Let them know the wrath of House Targaryen!” – Aemond
During this, he noticed that their side did not have enough dragons and even the few dragons they did, lacked riders. So, he asks his sister Halaena to ride her dragon Dreamfyre with him to Harrenhal to destroy Daemon’s army. However, Halaena instead tells him her prophecies, the most important being his impending death and Aegon’s return to the throne. Which confirms our earlier thoughts on the consequences of Aemond’s decision.
Your death is near, Aemond. And Aegon will return to the throne.” – Haelena
In Harrenhal, Alys Rivers asks Daemon to place his hand on the weirwood tree. When he did, it triggered a series of visions. In the vision, he sees the past and future of Westeros: the army of the dead, dead dragons, the aftermath of the Battle of the Trident, Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons. This vision makes Daemon realize his role in the fight against darkness the importance of bending the knee and his duty to support Rhaenyra, as her actions and decisions are crucial in shaping the destiny of their house and the realm.
Rhaenyra received Intel that Daemon had raised an army in Harrenhal so she sought to find out where his allegiance lay: to himself or her. But, she will have a pleasant surprise in this regard. Talking about surprises, Alicent visited Rhaenyra and told her she had decided to remove herself from the war and go away with her daughter and her child. She told Rhaenyra she could walk in and claim the throne for herself without any bloodshed.
Alicent, I cannot trust your intentions. This could be a trap. Justice must be served for the cities burnt and the people killed”. – Rhaenyra
However, Rhaenyra distrusts her intentions, as it could be a trap. She must also maintain a strong image with her supporters, as heeding Alicent’s negotiation could be seen as a sign of weakness. Rhaenyra also believed justice must be served. What about the cities that had been burnt? What about people that had been killed? Surely, someone had to be held accountable? Seeing as her sons would not forfeit the throne to face accountability.
This is where we get to know that war cannot be avoided, because, the stakes are higher than ever, and their decisions will shape the future of Westeros.
Let the wars begin.
What do you think will happen if Rhaenyra accepts Alicent’s offer?
