By controlling Bond, Amazon gains a prestige franchise that could drive Prime Video subscriptions, offer exclusive merchandise, or create new business opportunities, like Bond-themed partnerships with Amazon’s retail and gaming divisions. This isn’t just about making movies; we could see it as the Amazonification of one of the most recognizable brands in film history. And also a strategic move to position the company as a media powerhouse, competing with the likes of Disney and Netflix. What Happens Next? While Amazon is expanding in entertainment, it’s also quietly cutting off what’s not working. The Amazon Appstore on Windows 11, which allows users to install Android apps on Windows, is shutting down. It never truly gained traction, struggling against Google Play and Apple’s App Store, both of which dominate the mobile app space.For Amazon, this move makes sense. While some companies try to expand into every industry possible, Amazon is proving that knowing when to exit is just as important as knowing where to invest.     Amazon’s latest moves are more than just isolated business decisions—they are signs of a long-term strategy unfolding in real time. As it tightens its grip on James Bond, the company is strengthening its media empire. And it cuts off dead weight by shutting down the Amazon Appstore on Windows 11. These changes suggest that Amazon’s focus in the coming years will be on controlling premium content, leveraging AI, and refining its core businesses rather than chasing tech trends that don’t offer a competitive advantage.The question is—what’s next? Despite the severity of the crash, no fatalities have been reported. What led to the crash? The plane attempted to land on the runway at the airport. However, when the plane’s landing gear made contact with it, it skidded and flipped over to rest upside down. Reports indicate that the airport was experiencing strong winds and snow, which may have contributed to the crash.   The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board.   Aviation expert J. Joseph suggested that the rate of descent may have been too fast, leading to a hard landing. Other experts noted that the plane’s wings absorbed much of the impact, which helped protect the passengers and crew from what could have been a disastrous event.   Deborah Flint, CEO of Toronto Pearson Airport, stated that most passengers had only minor injuries and some have already been released from the hospital after receiving medical care. Market Reaction Delta Air Lines’ stock began to decline on February 13, 2025, following the crash. The stock dropped by 3.42% that day, closing at $64.06. The decline continued the next day, with the stock falling further by 1.59% to $64.35. This incident adds to a series of aviation-related over the past few months. While it raises questions about air travel safety, experts continue to emphasize that flying remains one of the safest modes of transportation. The passenger jet had 64 people on board. The flight was from Wichita, Arkansas, to Washington, D.C., and was about to make a landing when the crash occurred.   What happened? In the events leading to the crash, the airport’s traffic control (ATC) permitted the passenger flight to land on runway 33. A few seconds later, they alerted the Blackhawk, which was conducting a nighttime drill in the area and was heading towards the passenger flight, to pass behind it.  Both planes crashed midair and fell into the river when the passenger flight was turning to its designated runway while the military jet also turned in the same direction.   Aviation experts are shocked at the event and confused about what went wrong. So far, officials say there are no survivors, while 28 bodies have been recovered. In total, there were 67 people on board both aircraft.   Recovery efforts are ongoing, with significant challenges due to the cold water conditions. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash. The earthquake occurred at 9:19 PM local time, with its epicentre located approximately 30 kilometres (18.6 miles) off the coast of Kyushu.  According to sources, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued the warning immediately after the tremor, advising residents in affected areas to move to higher ground and stay tuned to local emergency broadcasts.   Initial reports suggest the quake was felt across several areas, but no significant damage or casualties have been reported at this time.     It is not the first time the country has been hit with earthquakes or tsunamis. December 30, 2024 Every time an aeroplane takes off, it’s not just a marvel of engineering; it’s a dance with nature. Amid the advancements in aviation technology, one simple challenge continues to pose significant risks: bird strikes.  More Common Than You Think Bird strikes are not rare. They are more frequent than many people realize. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, around 14,000 bird strikes are reported in the United States alone each year and, although it does not usually result in a disaster, there is still a potential for severe damage to lives, and aircraft.   For example, consider the “Miracle on the Hudson” in 2009, where a bird strike forced US Airways Flight 1549 to make an emergency landing on the Hudson River. Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger’s efforts saved all 155 passengers and crew, showing the gravity of bird strikes and the importance of preparedness in the airspace.  Jeju Air Flight disaster, bird strike or something else? In other cases, too, it could end in a disaster. An example is the recent airplane crash in South Korea. On Sunday morning, December 29, 2024, Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 crashed, resulting in the deaths of 179 passengers, with only 2 crew members surviving out of the 181 passengers on board. Although the crash is still under investigation, a bird strike has not been ruled out as a possible cause.   The disaster occurred at the Muan International Airport, where the flight was returning from Thailand. At 8:54 am, Air Traffic Control gave the flight permission to land, but at 8:57 am they issued a warning about birds in the area. At 8:59 am, one of the pilots reported hitting a bird and issued a mayday distress call, aborting the previous landing, according to Firstpost. The pilot then received permission to land in the opposite direction. The flight changed course mid-air and landed halfway on the runway. During this, the flight failed to deploy its wheels, went off course a few kilometres, and ultimately crashed into a concrete wall, bursting into flames.   But who is to blame apart from the possible bird strike? This disaster involved a Boeing 737-800, raising questions about the deployment issue with the landing gear and concerns about safety with Boeing aircraft.    Why do birds strike and the challenges of mitigating it?  Bird strikes happen mainly because birds and aircraft share the same airspace, especially near airports which often are close to natural habitats. Birds migrate, sometimes in large numbers, passing through flight paths sometimes in search of food. These food sources near airports attract them, and at times weather conditions can disorient them, making them fly at lower altitudes. These shifts can increase the risk of bird strikes.   For example, warmer temperatures may alter migration timings, and expanding urban areas can expand towards natural bird habitats, pushing them closer to airports.    And since birds are unpredictable, their migration patterns can change due to environmental factors like climate change or urban development. Airports, often located near water bodies or green spaces that attract birds, must adapt their bird management strategies. What is being done to Keep the Skies Safe? 1.Wildlife Management Programs  Many airports have teams dedicated to managing and monitoring bird activity. For instance, at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, wildlife biologists use some techniques to manage bird activity. They modify the habitat to make the area less attractive to birds, deploy noise cannons to scare them away, or even work with trained falcons to deter other birds from the airport vicinity.   2.Bird radar and other advancements  Airports use radar systems that can detect bird movements and provide real-time data to air traffic controllers and in turn, they provide this information to pilots.    3.Predictive Analytic Airports and aviation authorities collect massive amounts of data on bird activity, flight patterns, and environmental conditions. This data is then analyzed using machine learning algorithms to identify trends and predict where and when bird strikes are most likely to occur. For example, these algorithms can analyze historical data to detect seasonal patterns in bird migration and activity around specific airports, which are used to modify flight schedules to ensure safer flights and passenger transportation.
